Last week, I spent my first day in the hospital as a student nurse. While the rest of my clinical group practiced their skills on the Ortho floor, I was gallivanting around the surgical unit. It was a good time. Unfortunately, I had to leave early and head back to my clinical group. What had me mulling all evening? This was a perfect example of things you begin to learn upon working in a medical environment. Nurses are taught to give holistic care and treat the whole person — mind, body, and soul. When I asked where this man would go after his surgery — as he will need MAJOR rehab and has nowhere to live — the docs stated that they just perform the surgeries, operating room experience student nurse essay.
